"Your life as a teacher begins the day you realize you are always a learner."~ Robert John Meehan
ABOUT ME
Welcome! My name is Anna, and I am currently studying in the Professional Linking Program at Simon Fraser University. I am on track to becoming an elementary school teacher in the Spring of 2021. My passions include Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, and supporting learners with diverse needs. My journey to becoming a teacher has spanned over a decade. As a parent of a high-spirited child who needed more from me, I became interested in learning effective ways to respond to his needs. This passion took me from learning to be a better parent to eventually travelling to England to volunteer in an alternative school for students with adverse childhood experiences. I have so much to learn yet, and I am excited to be on this journey with you.

MY CREDO
-
I believe students learn best when they feel a sense of belonging. I must create a safe and inclusive environment that nourishes students’ academic growth and social-emotional needs.
-
I believe that each learner is unique, and as such, I will respect and consider each of my student’s styles of learning and celebrate all students’ diversity and individuality.
-
I believe play is the foundation of learning. It is essential to create a learning environment that is engaging and relevant for my students.
-
I believe that mistakes and challenges are learning opportunities. I will ensure that these opportunities are utilized to promote growth-mindset and skill-building.
-
I believe teachers are role models who help their students make sense of the world. I must respect the power and influence I have as a teacher and always maintain clear boundaries when interacting with my students, families, and communities.
